It is with heavy hearts that the Brookville Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors have decided to cancel the 2020 Brookville Community Picnic scheduled for July 23, 24 and 25, 2020. We have spent the last several months doing everything we can to organize an event that would allow us to safely bring the community together. After many tough conversations during our board meetings and communication with the office of the Governor of Ohio and the Dayton and Montgomery County Public Health Department it has become apparent that we simply cannot comply with the mandates that would have to be enforced.
A large event such as the Brookville Community Picnic does not come together easily. We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support we have received from the business community both in terms of financial support and physical labor to try to make this event happen. The Brookville business community has always stood by our side and does to this day. The health and wellbeing of our vendors and visitors, as well as the community of Brookville are our primary concerns.
We understand that the loss of this year’s Community Picnic will potentially be very stressful to businesses and community organizations that rely upon our event as their primary fundraiser for the year. This is our biggest regret in making the decision to cancel. Please reach out to the Chamber of Commerce office for any questions you may have. As always, we are here for our members and will do whatever we can to help during this trying time.
We have not given up on having fireworks on Saturday, July 25th as originally planned. We know the fireworks show offers a sense of community in Brookville like no other night of the year. We will keep you updated on our plans for Brookville Fireworks 2020. Thank you,
Board of Directors
