Out of an abundance of caution, and with respect to Governor DeWine's plea for Ohioans to take precautions, the Brookville Area Chamber of Commerce has made the tough decision to postpone our fireworks show. Public Health of Dayton and Montgomery County has made it clear that fireworks and gatherings of any number should not take place. We understand the strain this puts on the social well being of the community, but we feel this is a small price to pay to keep everyone safe. We will announce a new date as soon as possible.
The Brookville Area Chamber of Commerce is moving forward with the plan for Brookville Fireworks on Saturday, July 25. We hope you will mark your calendars and watch from your yard if you are able!
We have made some changes to this year's show! In order to allow maximum viewing from all around the city, we have canceled all fireworks that are for ground-level viewing. That allowed us to add more big shells that will be visible high up in the air!
Another change we have made is to close Golden Gate Park to vehicular traffic. We looked at several options for this huge space, and we feel it will be nearly impossible to track the number of people entering on foot. We decided to cut back on numbers in the park by preventing vehicles from entering. We would love to see people take advantage of the Wolf Creek Recreational Trail to enter the park with lawn chairs and blankets to watch the show. Once the gates are locked for the evening, vehicles will not be able to exit the park.
We are all very excited about the closure on Market Street between Fire Station 76 and Amvets. Parking will be available at businesses on Market, as well as at the fire station. Citizens can then safely walk up and down Market Street all while social distancing and find a great spot for an amazing view of the show!
We have reached out to local businesses and many of them will be very accommodating for parking. Some great ideas include Brookside Plaza, the back lot at Rob's, Cassel Insurance, the lot by the city garage and Brookville Community Theatre. There are plenty of places to park along the Wolf Creek Recreational Trail that leads right into Golden Gate Park. If you can see the water tower located at the back of the park, it is a good indication that you will be able to see the fireworks!
We are so thankful to our businesses that have stepped up to offer financial support. Brookville is an amazing community and we should all be proud to be part of it. Follow us on our Facebook page as we promote these businesses so you can help us say thank you! Again, mark your calendars for Saturday, July 25th and plan to join us at 10:00 pm for the best fireworks show around!
